Every time someone has a 100th birthday or a 105th or a 110th, we all ask, “What’s the secret to your longevity?” A drink of whiskey every day. A cheerful heart. A loving spouse. Lots of vegetables.  We’ve heard them all -- until now.

When Clara Meadmore celebrated her 105th birthday this past weekend, she was asked the big question. Her answer? No sex. Ever. Clara attributes her long live to remaining celibate.

The 105-year-old virgin said sex meant marriage when she was young and she never wanted to marry. "I made my mind up at 12 never to marry and I've not gone back on that," she said. "I've always been too busy doing other things. People have asked if I'm a homosexual -- the answer is no. I have just never been interested in or fancied having sex. I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."

Things like walking, gardening, reading, playing with her cat, and hanging out with friends.

Despite Clara’s belief that her secret is celibacy, one study after another says sex reduces stress and is good for your health.  What isn’t good for your health is a bad relationship and Clara says she’s never had one.  Maybe that’s the key. That and her friends, hobbies, and exercise.
