Just another WordPress site
A lot of what I thought was aging (feeling tired, stiffness, headaches, joint pain and depression) was nothing of the sort. Instead, I was suffering from surplus body fat and sustained inactivity. Why, if the refrigerator hadn’t been 20 feet from the sofa, I wouldn’t have gotten any exercise at all.
Along comes Dr. Henry S. Lodge who confirms in his book, Younger Next Year, the common mistake I made in my thinking. He says that if we are willing to exercise regularly and eat on the slim side, even though the clock is ticking away, we can perform both physically and mentally into our 90s. His readers—impressed with the idea of reversing aging—have begun following the advice. Their excited stories and results are posted on Dr. Lodge’s Web site http://www.youngernextyear.com/stories/index.php.
You simply can’t read the stories without wanting to jump up and join them in their successful effort to reclaim their youthful vitality. When your spirit needs a lift, read a story or two. That’s what I do.

Posted 5:10pm June 29th, 2009My heart goes out to you for all you have been through. Sometimes when I have had trouble taking care of myself for myself, I am reminded that my well-being is critically important to others. When my daughter suffered cardiac arrest (she was 38), my interest in fitness stopped as well. But I caught myself up short when I realized my three granddaughters needed me more more than ever. (My daughter survived but is handicapped by a lack of memory so she was no longer the strong mother she once had been.)
I focused on my own fitness not because of my own goals but because I had to be strong for others.
In your situation, I would encourage you to reach out to others. You are carrying too heavy a load to succeed on your own. Whether you reach out in a real community (with people you can touch and feel in) or with friends you make online, you will need to reach out. We are social animals. We need each other. Sometimes we give support; other times we need it. Both are part of the human condition. I hope you get support for yourself soon. Best, Carole

Posted 1:51pm June 29th, 2009After I lost my daughter to stillbirth in 2007, I turned around and lost about 20lbs. Only to find out at the same time I'd lost that 20th, that I was pregnant again, AAAhhh! So I carried that pregnancy and gave birth this last November of 2008. I'm suffering from cardiac arrythmia and tachycardia. Dont know if its weight related, but I'm like you.. as a stay at home homeschooling mom, if something weren't just so far from the couch, I'd get no exercise either. I'm working on trying to eat better since I dont have a means to get out and about and my heart is giving me grief. I SO wanna lose this weight and see if my heart improves. Beta blockers bite the big one. I'm too young for em! I'm 32 goin on 33 this october. What are you doing thats helping you???

Posted 2:33pm June 28th, 2009Well, it all makes sense, doesn't it? Eat less and exercise more! Why can't we get it through our heads? Thanks for the link to Dr. Lodge's web site ... I am going there right now!
