Tis the season to eat like someone who was just rescued from a desert island. Office parties, holiday buffets, family gatherings and enough sandwiches made from leftover turkey to choke a reindeer are paraded by us all at this time of the year.
But that presents us with more problems than just a bulging waistline. The price for partaking in all those goodies is that you have to socialize, make smalltalk with people you hardly say a word to all year long. Lets just say, if your breath is as rotten as your bosses wife's fruitcake, you're not going to leave a very good impression!
So, short of avoiding that smorgasboard of holiday treats, is there anything we can do? Dr. Harold Katz, “Dentist to the Stars,” says yes!
“The fact is that brushing your teeth and using some mouthwash to eliminate breath odors is a great start, but the effects of that regimen pretty much wear off before you even make it to lunch,” Dr. Katz said. “Of course you should brush your teeth and floss on a daily basis, but that’s enough to keep your breath fresh all day. Food is just one of the many variables that can cause bad breath, but watching what you eat is a good place to start.”
Dr. Katz said the five holiday foods that cause you to have the worst breath include:
· 5 – Candy canes
· 4 - Cranberry sauce
· 3 - Candied Yams
· 2 - Mashed Potatoes (if they have butter and sour cream!)
· 1 - Egg Nog!
Dr. Katz has been featured on FOX Network’s Mike & Juliet Show, ABC’s Good Morning America, and The View with Barbara Walters and countless other radio and TV interviews. He is the founder of The California Breath Clinics and the author of “The Bad Breath Bible.” He travels around with a gizmo called a Halimeter which tests the sulfur compounds in your mouth that cause bad breath. He's become one of the world's foremost authorities on bad breath. What can he do for you? Well here's what happened when he brought his halimeter to Growing Bolder!
