CPAP therapy can improve cognition in patient with Alzheimer's disease with a history of obstructive sleep apnea, according to a study published in the November issue of the Journal of the American Geriatric Society.

Obstructive sleep apnea is not caused by Alzheimer’s disease but the condition can cause a decrease in a person’s ability to concentrate due to the lack of sufficient sleep, and decreases in the oxygen in the blood.

When we look at studies such as these we see that we have so much to learn about how we can improve our health through proper sleep.  We are learning daily how sleep affects every aspect of our lives.  We also see that proper treatment of sleep disorders can help you live longer more productive lives.
