One Gift You Must Get

Have you read through the Thought Leaders column on the GB Home Page? The number of responses to our question was overwhelming. The answers are as diverse as the backgrounds of the people themselves. Be sure to read through them. But don’t forget about one gift you MUST get. This one is for you, but you’re family and friends will love it, too. Give yourself the gift of health. How do you do that? By making sure you invest enough time and effort to decrease your odds of encountering problems. You KNOW you can eat better, work out more and take better care of yourself. So lets stop thinking about it and start doing it.

You’ll find lots of help right here! Check out GB members Fred the Fitness Guy, Dr. John Langdon, Florida Karen, Fred the Tri-Guy and many, many others. Very soon, Growing Bolder will debut “The Five Minute Workout”. It’s something you can do just three times a week to start your way to better health and fitness. It’s one of many projects you’ll find here in the coming weeks. Don’t hesitate to add your own workouts, recipes and tips as well. It’s always easier to get through things when we do it together.

This is also the time of year we think about the people we said goodbye to in 2007. From celebrities to friends to family members, this year’s list is pretty long. It makes you wonder why it is that we readily make big investments in our homes, cars, HDTV’s, laptops and other big ticket items, but hesitate in investing a little time and effort in ourselves? We all know how dramatic the payoff can be. And it’s not like we have to turn our lives upside down, although sometimes the world looks a lot better that way.

Something else we can do for ourselves is to stop putting off that trip to the doctor. Did you read that Dan Fogelberg passed away? The guy who wrote “Leader of the Band” and “Same Old Lang Syne” died of prostate cancer. He was diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease in 2004. Doctors told him if they had detected it earlier they would have had a fighting chance to save him. Please, care about yourself enough to get checked. Be actively engaged in the most important possession you have… Your life! Lets make this the year we turn it all around. Lets all start Growing Bolder!

A five-minute workout? That's about four minutes and 45 seconds too long for me! But really, it sounds like something all of us can do, no matter how busy or old we are. I'm looking forward to it, too. Also, I like the tone of this article. Believe me, life goes by in the blink of an eye. Try not to waste a day.

I'm waiting with bated breath for the 5 minute exercise program. If I can't manage 5 minutes a day three times a week, there is something wrong with me.
