Update!
I managed to walk 15km this morning before my knee cratered. So disappointed I was unable to finish the walk but so grateful I was able to do 15km (9miles). Not willing to risk injuring my knee...
1200 participants in Calgary - raised 3million for cancer research. Pretty impressive!
Weekend to End Breast Cancer - July 25th & 26th, 2009
Tomorrow morning at 7am, I head off on a 60km ( 36miles ) walk around the city of Calgary, with thousands of other individuals, who have all raised a minimum of $2000.00 in support of research for all types of women's cancers.
I lost both of my parents to forms of cancer and my only sibling has also survived a form of cancer. That just leaves me. So, I walk to do my part in helping to find a cure. I walk to save my own life and the lives of those I love.
And I walk as a personal challenge. I have a total knee replacement in September of 2008. This is my way of challenging myself and the new titanium knee.
I am certainly nervous...I have high expectations of myself....I have a crowd of encouragers...it's just one foot in front of the other.
I'll let you know how I do...

Posted 10:00pm July 24th, 2009Yeah for Merry!! You go, girl! I know your new knee will do beautifully. Thank you from all of us out here that are also somehow connected to that dreadful disease. I have two daughters that have both been through breast cancer and they are doing great...one is a 17 year survivor and the other is about 4 years. Good Luck from California
