After five weeks of steady weight loss at 2 pounds a week, my scale hasn't budged in nearly 2 weeks. That's 4 pounds I haven't lost! Is this a reason to panic? Not a chance, but it did cause me to stop and examine what's changed. I've gotten a little complacent. It's hard to track every bite of food every single day, and I stopped doing it. I suspect my calorie count has gone up a little, maybe from 1200 to 1500, but I have not gone completely off the rails and I really thought the extra exercise would compensate. After giving it some thought, I realized I'd been eating more carbs lately, and that's probably the answer.
Exercise is going very well. I'm averaging 45-50 minutes a day, 5 days a week. I'm walking a little faster and raising the incline on my treadmill, which should burn additional calories. I thought it would take a weight loss of 30 pounds before I reached the point of no return, but I think I'm already there. So my next step is to go back to the drawing board and make a big pot of veggie soup (already in the works). Check back with me next week. I promise you, there will be 2 pounds less of me. It's happening.
