This week the slow food movement will be having a celebration of the local restaurants who embrace the farm to table experience.  This movement takes advantage of local growers and producers of organic and sustainable food and pairs them with local chefs to create wonderful and healthy dining experiences.

The sustainable farming movement encourages not just organic farming but farming that is diverse so it does not injure the property it is grown on.  It allows the growers to continue to use the land and not deplete it of essential minerals.

In Orlando the movement is celebrating their movement with a week of special meals offered at restaurants and farmers throughout the area.  You will be able to find them at slowfoodorlando.org.

The site also gives information one the producers of the produce, fish, meat and baked goods that follow these principles.

Winter Park Dairy is one of the local food producers.  They sell their fresh cheeses at the Winter Park Farmers Market and Maitland Farmers Market as well as local hotels and restaurants.  There product is raw milk cheese that is created from the dairy cows they raise on their farm by Lake Florence.  They are currently the only dairy licensed to create raw milk artisan cheeses.

To learn more about the movements and the participating restaurants visit Orlando Slow Foods website.
