One of the most wonderful, intangible gifts my flower-loving guy has given me has been the confidence to buy a young plant at a garden store, dig a hole, plant it, and expect it to grow.  Up until recently, I've been reknowned for my ability to kill almost any plant without even trying.  And when you think that a year ago all that's now blooming was just a vast expanse of plain dirt under a layer of plastic sheeting and white river rock, well...here's the joy!  I'd love to just post the pictures here on ""Growing Bolder," but I'm such a Luddite I still haven't got the knack of uploading them to this site...
