There's an international catfight of nearly immortal proportions taking place on GrowingBolder.com for World's Oldest Blogger Honors. It's the battle of the century. Literally!
In the GrowingBolder.com corner, from America, clocking in at 109 years, 9 months and 4 days, Ruth Hamilton.
In the AllAboutOlive.com.au corner, from Australia, with a time of 108 years, 8 months and 23 days, Olive Riley.
There's no argument that Ruth was indeed, the oldest, but Olive had scoreboard! She still does. Just do a google search for "world's oldest blogger" and you'll find over 2-million references to her! As for Ruth? Well, the bad news -- and the good news is, she did her blogging on GrowingBolder.com.
You've probably never heard of Growing Bolder. You're not alone! It's sort of a MySpace for anyone who believes in getting the most out of life. But it's far more than just a collection of personal profile pages. Sort of like YouTube there are amazing videos, but Growing Bolder has hundreds of exclusive videos with rock stars, health experts, record holders, celebrities and ordinary people showing how they live life to the fullest.
From a visibility standpoint, it was no competition. It was like Joe's Muffler Shop Little League team against the New York Yankees. Ruth just couldn't find any daylight! You had to search specifically for Ruth to find her. Even now, Growing Bolder is barely a blip on the internet roadmap. We're hoping you'll want to change that.
The truth of the matter is that Ruth Hamilton had a storybook life. She even wrote her autobiography. It's over 500 fascinating pages long. You can read excerpts by
clicking here. What was interesting about her? Her husband pitched for the 1920 Cleveland Indians. She was one of America's first female radio show hosts. In 1937 she came face to face with Hitler and tried to warn the world. She taught diction to Hollywood starlets. She had it out with her husband's mistress. She was friends with Jean Gauguin and dined with Eleanor Roosevelt. And she was the first woman ever elected to the New Hampshire legislature.
Getting back to the catfight... Last week, we got an email from the guy who runs Olive's web site. We challenged his claim that Olive was the oldest blogger. We didn't know what kind of reaction to expect. We figured he was looking for trouble. So we loaded him up with our evidence, sent him Ruth's background, history and all her information. The ball was in his court. His name is Mike Rubbo, and his
return volley took us by surprise. He turned out to be a great guy.
Mike is a documentary filmmaker interested in showing the world that the elderly can be relevant, inspirational and unforgettable. His dear friend Olive was all that and more! And so is Mike. Instead of discrediting Ruth, Mike wants to help celebrate her.
"I can't believe you didn't promote her!" Mike chastised me for not doing more to get the word out. But take a look at
Growing Bolder and you'll understand. GrowingBolder.com is new, our staff is small, yet in addition to the hundreds of exclusive videos, we have three times as many audio interviews with stars, experts, athletes and other extraordinary people. What we've created is a first-of-its-kind resource that's entertaining, informative, inspirational and fun!
I regret having to tell you that both Ruth and Olive passed away recently. And Mike is right. Ruth deserves to have her messages heard.
So do this. Check out GrowingBolder.com. See if you're not amazed, honored and inspired. And in honor of Ruth, take a look at her personal profile page. Watch the stories we did on her. Listen to a few of her blogs and hear what she had to say. She may very well be the oldest person you ever hear from! You never know, her advice might stay with you for the rest of your life.
