My eight minutes of TV fame!

I've used up about half of my allotted "fifteen minutes of fame" just last week when I was a guest on The Morning Blend, which is the local NBC affiliate's morning program in Milwaukee.  I was there to talk about my book, "Running with Stilettos," but as usual, most of all, I was there to have some fun.  And boy, did I!

First things first.  I haven't watched the segment myself, so if you watch it and I sound like an idiot...don't tell me!  There are a million reasons for me not to want to sit down and critique my on-air appearance, but probably the biggest one to go with is that in my own imagination, I'm still a slender twenty-four year old and I don't want to confront any visual evidence to the contrary.  So sue me.

Sitting in the "green room" before the show started, I made fast acquaintances with three other women with their own agendas--one promoting a fundraiser for The Hunger Task Force, one promoting my very favorite marsh in the world, Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin, and one promoting a book sale to raise money to feed the hungry.  Three of us had our own blogs, and all of us had kids, so the laughter and the conversation flew fast and furious.  I was first up on the guest list for the hour-long program, and sitting on the sidelines before my cue, absolutely marveled at the tight and efficient sense of timing and flow and back-and-forth between the two hostesses, Molly Fay and Alison de Castro.  I also was awestruck by the thought of having to look absolutely put-together and gorgeous with hair and makeup and wardrobe every single day, Monday through Friday.  I don't think I could do it if my life depended on it.  If I pull out the mascara wand more than once a year I think I'm doing pretty good.  And yes, I put on mascara for the show!

Then suddenly it was my turn, and eight minutes went by in the blink of an eye.  And when I had an instant of "brain freeze" and forgot my train of thought, one of these lovely ladies was right there on the spot with another question and the conversation kept rolling.  It was over before I knew it, and I kept smiling all the way home.

So...what to do for my last seven minutes of fame?!!!

    Hi MissDazey,

Thanks for the kind words!  I'm planning to have the next one, "Heck on Heels," available around the beginning of November.  In fact, I just lined up my first book signing for it over the Thanksgiving Day weekend!
