Just another WordPress site
At the 2008 George Strait Baltimore concert, I bought a George Strait T-shirt. ME, who swore that the only man whose visage would adorn my chest was Shakespeare (Yeah, I know).
Well, one day I ventured out wearing it. Caught a few glances, even a couple, "I'm a fan, too". But, there was also the "stalker" and "groupie" labels strewn about. Since I'm only 5 foot, age 65, and have a much calmer part-Irish temper, I am glad to report there were no eyes blackened at those encounters.
It does make me wonder though. Are the fans of sport teams and particular players, treated with this blatant disrespect?
Oh....and when some people learned that I painted some pictures of George on horseback and then some portraits, they really freaked-out that I was going overboard with my obsession. What's with THAT, anyway?
Well, when I got to meet George in 2008, I was a little scared to show him some of my paintings, because I am self-taught, haven't painted for long, and am not a 'professional'. But, I thought, why not? I'm so glad that I did. The one person who could have raised his hands in alarm or disgust...DIDN'T.
In fact, when I showed him the "patch" side painting, he laughed and said, "Ah---my best asset." He even offered to sign the works I brought. I was stunned, pleased, and excited....and graitful.
I went away thinking.....Now there is a truly admirable man. One who by knowing him, should inspire others to be likewise admirable.
