Inflation has hit the tooth fairy. My friend was complaining his grandchild got $10 from the tooth fairy. He was comparing that to the quarter his kids found under the pillow when they lost a tooth. That reminded me of the time my son asked why the tooth fairy only left him $2, when she always leaves his cousins a $20. I fumbled my way through that one, saying she probably stopped at their house early in the evening, when she still had lots of $$.
So what is an appropriate amount of cash to leave under the pillow for a tooth?

Can't say if there is any set value for front teeth or any other tooth monetarily...sometimes talking to the child to find out what he/she feels about what "the loss" or "relief" of a loose tooth "means to them." I recall my son after he learned of the mystical & magic of the tooth fairy drawing her golden stardust from the night sky & blowing it over the empty pages of her daily journal; would magically list all the children who on that day had lost a tooth. As we all know, the children would place their tooth under their pillow & wish for "something" left in return. I asked my son( Pasquale or Pat aka squal as some GB'ers may know him) what he wished for...his response...he wanted to write the tooth fairy a note asking for a picture of her!!! So of course we sat down and wrote the tooth fairy in Pat's own words & writing. We placed the note under his pillow; all the while I am thinking what to do,what to do. Aahh...thank heaven for the picture of Tinkerbell on the back of the Disney record album. The next morning he was so happy . To this day I have the note he wrote & a wonderful memory I share with you now. One last laugh, some time after this when he got alitte older; we were watching the Wonderful World of Disney when Tinkerbell flew over the castle & sprinkled her pixie dust...Pat yells out...Hey she looks like theToothfairy!
