Foster Animals

My wife works at a shelter. We've been fostering dogs pretty regularly since Hurricane Katrina displaced so many animals. Right now we're about to say goodbye to "Quentin" who was illegally dumped outside a shelter just days before Christmas (Happy Holidays to the jerks who did that, BTW). He's a puppy, and therefore quite rambunctious. We love him anyway, but have 3 dogs that we own, and need to keep the 4th slot open for fostering other dogs that need our help. Have any of you fostered animals before? How hard was it to say goodbye? We came THISCLOSE to keeping 2 of our past fosters.

Posted 8:38 am January 7th, 2008Thanks Patti,
As it turns out, yesterday my wife was signing Quentin in to go up for adoption, when 2 women walked in and fell in love with him right away. He puts on a good sales pitch to new people. As a result, he found a new home in less than 5 minutes. I appreciate the offer, and will likely take you up on it the next time we have a foster. I will post a pic of him in the next few days, because really who can resist pictures of cute puppies?

Posted 9:49 am January 4th, 2008Hi Jason,
If you send me info on the puppy, I will send it out to my friends via email to see if I can help find a home. I've fostered a couple of dogs but my dog Bandit wasn't happy about it so I only foster kittens now...I tried not to get too attached to the dogs and since I found good homes for them and saw the new owners often, it wasn't too hard for me to let go.
