Talking to one of my best friends Jumbo today kicked up an old college memory of my Physics professor saying "go ahead and use cell phones and help the endangerment of monkeys in Africa" This was 9 years ago now. As you can imagine the whole class was like WTF. He went on to explain that materials in cell phone batteries are mined from parts of Africa and those miners would feast on the wildlife including monkeys, etc. Here is a snippet I found today:

go green
transform your trash!
cell phone batteries contain coltan, a substance mined in the congo forests, where many endangered wildlife species live. recycling your old cell phone and its batteries at the Bronx zoo’s Congo Gorilla Forest will reduce waste and could help save gorilla habitat

The people who sell mobile phones told me that I could use my mobile phone to serve as a camera, an audio and video recorder, and also as a radio. I was surprised to know that the technology has taken big steps to make the life so comfortable for us.mobile phone recycling best ways of using your old mobile phone.

I do like your post on recycling mobile phones, this is the variety of thing we require here, an operation that can raise more consciousness on how crucial recycling and waste action are so we can understand what is really at risk.

You can recycle your old cell phones, CFL light bulbs and tool batteries at your local Home Depot - check it out and take them there!

Idea to save environment should be complimented but let me remind you our mobile technologies have replaced coltan batteries with lithium ion batteries. This would increase the battery life and when sent to recycle mobile phone would release less toxins.
