On Tuesday, February 10th, I watched the memorial service for Caylee Anthony. A beautiful ceremony, to be sure, but it was a bit hard to keep a dry eye, not only because of the obvious, but Caylee's tragic death hits home, and hard. On April 9, 1994, my niece, Tiffany Llorca, died under brutal circumstances. She, like Caylee, was also 2 years old, and what is even sadder is that Tiffany was an identical twin. Thankfully, my surviving niece, Brittany, is still with us. For reasons I don't understand to this day, the person responsible has never been charged and most likely will never stand trial, leaving our family devastated. But our family knows who did it, and there is a similarity (yes, you guessed it, the baby's mother). The tragedy took a greater toll on the family, as it pushed my mom healthwise over the edge. She took it perhaps harder than any of us, and sadly, it led to her eventual demise. I was still living in Illinois when this happened, and I had planned to move to Florida beforehand, and this situation only expedited my reasons for moving. Despite the frustration of not seeing justice for Tiffany, I hope and pray that someday there will be justice for Caylee. Our family's grief has made us stronger, and that, my friends, is a prime example of a family........................growing bolder. May Caylee rest in peace.
