There's Nothing Like a Big Hug from a Child

Yesterday when my 21-month-old grandson came home from daycare, he ran right over to me and gave me a hug.  Now granted, he could only reach my knees but it was definitely a big bear hug!  He does it quite often as a matter of fact.  But there was something special about the hug he gave me yesterday.  It was if he knew I really needed it.  Then it got me to wondering.

How does this little toddler understand what giving a hug really means?  Then I thought back on all of the times he has seen hugging in his family. Even though he is short on words, he has an abundance of love in his heart and hugging is one way he expresses that emotion.

 When children are small their view of the world and people is shaped by what they see.  We, as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc have such an impact on that view.  Are you happy with the views your children are seeing?

To hug someone is to show them you care.  Have you had a hug today---or better yet---who have YOU hugged?
