I was so "happy" when I heard about "The Red Hat Society!" I went out and I bought myself the very "last" red hat with a big purple band of lace around it and a big purple rose on it and a pair of red slip on sandals and clutch purse then came home and found my purple gloves that I had bought on clearance the year before. I was gonna join the Red Hat Society and have some fun now that I am over 50 and living alone in this little town of Tyler, Mn. I was told by some local people there there was a chapter in this town and so i got all excited about it and couldn't wait to find one of the ladies so that I could join their group.
Well, one day I was in another town about 25 miles from home and what did I see? Why there were three Red Hat Society Ladies and so I spoke up asking one of them about their chapter and where they lived and where they go and if they go to the conventions, just what all they enjoy doing. The lady informed me that they were all from Tyler just where I live! Wow, I finally found some of the ladies! I was so happy but when I asked about joining their group I was informed they have all their members now and they can take no more. I cannot join their group and I should just start up my own. I don't know many people here. I haven't lived here in Tyler, Mn long . I guess my nice Red Hat and clutch purse, shoes, and gloves will lay on my little stand next to my bed and I will hope that someday I will some ladies closeby here that will accept me into their group so I will not have to spend all my days and nights alone and I can get to know some of the nice ladies in Tyler, Mn.

Posted 11:38pm November 13th, 2008Ok now ladies, all of that about "no group for me here" was a joke. It sure got soem comments though didn't it? Well, anyway, i still have my hat, shoes, gloves and purse so whenever I get time I do know what to do to start a chapter . Right now though I am terribly busy. On October 27th I was appointed as Minnesota's 1st State Representatve for the "National Committee of Grandparents for Children's Rights" www.grandparentsforchildren.org I am still in the process of trying to get custody of my little granddaughter. It is difficult and also I am having a hard time keeping a job because everytime I get a job and am working and some "social worker" finds out where she calls and says things against me to get me taken off the job. I guess I am going to have to hire a good attorney for that! Anyone know of one in SW Minnesota?

Posted 4:45pm November 13th, 2008Enya.........
I also would advise you to Form a chapter of your own, and become the Queen of your own chapter.
What I did, almost 7 years ago, when I wanted to form a RHS chapter is put a small ad in our local newspaper, telling about the RHS, and that I was organizing a new RHS chapter. I set a time and date at a local eatery. Over 40 women showed up. We exchanged names, and contact informaiton. I set a "next gathering" date and location. At that 2nd gathering........... we named our chapter The Rowdy Red Hat Mamas of N.W. Wisconsin. I then proceeded to register with the RHS. I am the founding Queen, and remain the Queen. We are an active, busy chapter, with women in towns that are over 40 miles apart in distance. Email me, or call me, and I can visit with you about this.

Posted 4:46pm September 29th, 2008Really need to comment on the "joke" rejected by the Red Hat Society .... THAT SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE .. After 5 years in the society I have discovered so many people with strange ideas of who we are and what we do .... I am the Queen of my chapter ....because there were not any chapters in my town .... but I also know that it takes some work ..I was willing to do this and it has been well worth it ...but I was told and I heeded the advice..not to let the chapter get too big .. I decided to limt it to an even dozen ... since then many havecontacted me and I have referred them to other chapters .... I did not reject them but I referred them .... so now the several chapters that have formed here in my town get together a few times a year .... I advise you to just be patient and once you are listed as an "open" chapter you will be contacted .... A five and a half year old "Queen Mum"

Posted 6:56pm September 20th, 2008I noticed that there are 2 chapters within 10 miles of Tyler.
Lake Benton and Marshall
When I first heard of the RHS, there were no chapters near me either. I just went ahead and registered my own chapter in the town where I live. Then I put an ad in a weekly shopper's guide. We've never been a very active group, but it works for me because I'm involved in other things in addition to the RHS.

Posted 6:41pm September 20th, 2008Are there any weekly or monthly papers in your area in which you could post an ad about wanting to get a group of women together?
Are you a Purple Perks member? If so, you can post on the Queen Mother Board if you don't already do so. In addition to the general forums, there are state forums. You could inquire about a chapter on the MN thread.
Let us know if you connect with a chapter.

Posted 9:12pm August 18th, 2008Yes Ladies I did join online and I did talk to the ladies about joining their group and that is what I was told. They have 20 in their group and they are taking no more into it so I would have to start my own group. My sister in Iowa and I got a good laugh over that one................to be REJECTED by the "Red Hat Society!" LMAO!!!! I am going to post that good one on our family site so all of my aunts cousins can have a good laugh too. I heard that three of my cousins who are sisters are members of the "Red Hat Society" too! lol

Posted 7:34am August 17th, 2008Have you joined the Red Hat Society yet? I joined over the internet and then you can find more chapters near you.
I did look and there is only one chapter where you live, but there are several open ones in, Twin cities and Tower if they are near you.
I have two open ones near me, but haven't had the nerve to contact them yet.
Hope this helps.
