They call them “heteroflexible.” These are girls who make out with other girls to turn a guy on. Have I gotten so old that I've lost touch with the latest slang? I swear I had never heard of such a thing until I read an online magazine called Salon.com.
I guess this all falls in line with a song I heard on the radio recently called "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry. I was driving in my car when the song came. It had a nice beat and I was bopping along to the music until I started listening to the provocative lyrics:
I kissed a girl and I liked it,
The taste of her cherry chapstick,
I kissed a girl just to try it,
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it.
It felt so wrong, it felt so right.
Young women interviewed by Salon.com about the girl-on-girl trend said they had initially kissed other females to get a free beer at parties or on a dare from guys. But they soon saw it as a way to signal to males that they are "sexually open and adventurous."
My college freshman daughter says it’s nothing to see lesbians in high school and now—in college.
As a baby boomer knock-out babe, I lived through the so-called sexual revolution but this new thing called “heteroflexible” is quite an eye opener!
