Being from the Chicago area, I can't think of anything better than having the White Sox and Cubs in the playoffs in the same season. That hasn't happened since 1906, so how cool would it be if they met in the World Series, like the Mets and Yankees did in the late '90s? Of course, I'm still elated to this day over the White Sox winning it all in 2005, and I can only imagine how crazy the city would get if both Chicago teams make it to the fall classic. Now I should point out that I'm a rare bird of sorts, in that I root for both teams. In Chicago, it's mostly you root for one team and hate the other, but I was never that way. The reason for the double loyalty is because my mom's family are Cubs fans, and my dad's family are White Sox fans. If you ask me, I'm a White Sox fan first, but I root for the Cubs also. It's a Chicago thing. And even though I will admit that even though with the White Sox winning it all in '05, Chicago will practically always be considered a Cubs town. But for White Sox fans, they waited 88 years for a championship, while the Cubs fans are looking to see the team on the North side break the 100 year drought. Regardless of what happens, us Chicagoans can always dream of a Windy City World Series. This is as close as it gets to it actually happening, but they have to step up in the playoffs. At the time of this blog, the Cubs lost Game 1 to the Dodgers, while the White Sox are starting their series vs. Tampa Bay. We dare to dream. One dream came true 3 years ago. Is another one in the works?
