Just before midnight on Thursday, August 21st – Pat Narciso came across an anonymous internet message board. One of the topics on this message board, started by anonymous user, contained a simple image of the Olympic Champion Michael Phelps, and the text “do your worst”.

The image was posted at 11:55pm. The first reply came at 12:07am, and dozens more followed directly after. Within 2 hours, 50 additional Michael Phelps images had been uploaded.
