Did you know that originally pink was the male colour and blue the female colour? I wonder what made it change. I remember that in Belgium blue was for baby girls and pink for the boys. Now Belgium is a very strange country... Almost as strange as Florida.

I think they look at it, get a chuckle, and move on. I would imagine that some people might be too embarrassed to admit they fell for it. too, which would imply that they really are nincompoops. Needless to say, it is merely meant in a humorous manner, with all silliness intended.

"A nincompoop is an English term usually meant to describe a person who is silly, foolish, stupid, and/or useless.

The actual origins of the term are unknown, but some people speculate that it was coined by British playwright William Wycherley in 1676. Other people believe the word stems from the Latin phrase 'non compos mentis', i.e. 'not of sound mind.'

In 2007, a survey among 2000 Britons revealed that nincompoop was the nation's favourite word out of 16,500 entries in the Cambridge Dictionary.

In the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr.Robotnik refers to his two robot slaves as "Nincombots". Robot related word-play was very present in the show's dialogue."

I found this all on wikipedia. I had never heard of the word, which could be seen as positive, (no one saw the need to call me one )or negative (haven't read enough) I suppose.
Well this nincompoop (non compos mentis) is just checking but no one else seems to have fallen into the scrolltrap yet Do you think they are too clever here on gb?

Hi, Ina. Good to hear from you here on GB. A nincompoop is a silly, foolish simpleton. Some people say a nincompoop is stupid, but I only mean it as something humorous with no attachment to any sort of insulting name whatsoever. It's like calling someone a dummy, but meaning it in a harmless manner.
