This weekend, we took our 3-year-old for her first canoe trip down Juniper Springs run in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. We even saw some real wild wildlife along the way ...

Don't worry -- they're used to canoers and keep their distance.

It was great to show her that gators, turtles, fish and birds are actually wild creatures, not just the entertainment at Animal Kingdom.

And along the way, she got to experience the natural beauty of her homestate.
