2010

On a personal level, I have a very ambitious program for 2010. First and foremost, I am looking forward to spending quality time with my first grandchild who made his debut into the world this past October. I not only intend to spoil him rotten, but I will become his parents worst nightmare. Using subliminal messages, I will make sure that he roots for all of grandpa's sport teams instead of his dad's. By using sophisticated mind melding techniques, I want him to know he doesn't have to be perfect or always get A's in school, and when his parents get on his case, he can always call me and we will solve the problem.
On a more serious note, I plan to complete and publish my second book, 0-60 The book will be a collection of humorous antidotal stories from youth through retirement. In February, I will start a consulting practice which will assist small business owners to run and organize their companies. Lastly, now that my wife and I are empty nesters we plan on selling our home and downsizing into a townhouse community.
As I write this, I am pretty impressed with my itinerary for the new year, but let's inject a note of reality. Writing is a long and tedious process. When you have the concentration of a fly -- like I do, it's much easier talking about writing a book than it is actually finishing the project. Ideally, my home will be sold to a young couple with plenty of children who can make the same kind of wonderful memories that my family did. But let's face it, this real-estate market stinks -- home prices have fallen faster than Tiger Woods' popularity. If I had to, I would sell my house to a member of the Manson family. My only criteria for a buyer of my house is that they give me a fair offer, have a good credit rating and are able to put down a sizeable down payment.
As for my grandson, there are no obstacles or hurdles that I must overcome. I know that there are going to be times when he will get cranky, cry and have to be changed, but hey, I'm just the grandfather and I have to to get back home anyway

Your 2010 plans are indeed ambitious, but just reading your post, I can feel spirit and determination. Way to go.
The spoiling of your grandson may be the easiest part to accomplish. I am hopeful the rest will follow. Wishing you a wonderful 2010.
