Just got back home on Monday evening from a wonderful 45th mini reunion with my CHS classmates at Brevard County Mosquito Beaters. It is amazing that we all had the same feeling...that time had stood still. We may have looked a little older, but we were still those same teenagers. One classmate that I hadn't had contact with since we graduated was there and we just pick up where we left off 45 years ago. It was like we had never been apart all those years. There were not as many as we had hoped, but we had a good turn out. Several came on Saturday that did not attend on Friday evening, and some that attended Friday were not able to make it to the Saturday get together.
Several of us left on Saturday and went out to Cape Canaveral and enjoyed more time together and then went to dinner at Corky Bells in Sharpes that evening. We all hated for it to end, but vowed we'd be back again next year and try to contact more classmates to attend, because who knows how many of us will still be here for our 50th class reunion which we are going to start planning now.

Posted 10:56pm March 20th, 2009Actually our mascot was the tiger. Mosquito Beaters is the name of an organization devoted to preserving the history of Central Brevard County, Florida which includes Cocoa, Rockledge, Merritt Island, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral and the surrounding area. It is held every year to bring people from Brevard County together, but it has also been a way for classmates to join up in one place each year.

Posted 9:30pm March 18th, 2009I have never been back to any of my high school or college reunions. Reading what you wrote makes me think about reconsidering for the next one. You were the Mosquito Beaters? That's really an unusual mascot name.
