About 13 years ago I started to identify with my captors...YES! I was captivated by a little blue eyed fella' with white hair and a loopy grin! Immmediately I learned two things about him.....He didn't belong to me....As his grandmother, I belonged to HIM!
If you left him in his play pen while his father baby sat....He would soon become to smell bad.....The kid, and the daddy....He was very due for a change of Daddy!..I naturally assumed the comatose lump on my couch must be his Daddy! No one told me he wasn't...Or gave me suggestions on how to reanimate the lump. It seemed his fondest dream was to spend his days laying on my couch nearly 24 hours a day!
I wasn't about to offer him a change of "Pamper" He might have accepted! He smelled bad. I was NOT that motivated!
It didn't take long before my teen, son and daughter began to beg me,"
MAWWWWWW Please make him TAKE a SHOWER!! "They weren't talking about
the baby!I think that was about the time they decided to change
abode..The parents, NOT my TEENS....There was a certain amount of loud
discussion...and maybe fisty -cuffs!.....I have a lot of amnesia about this
period..
Prozac...I found the "Way"in Prozac!---That is the only answer I can find to how we all survived in a 14-68 mobile home, without total mayhem....It seems to me there was a little mayhem, toward the end....Maybe it was me pushing hiim headfirst into the bath tub and holding the doors shut till he washed....I never did see what she found so captivating about him...IT certainly was NOT in our tub.....Nothing "stood out"....but then the water WAS cold.....or maybe that was just a prozac induced fantasy......
..
When our Dear little Man was about two, his Mom decided to take their show on the road!....She packed up her kid,. She put Her "inanimate lump" into her version of a Hippy van along with HIS 200 pound dog....Away they went to the wilds of North Idaho! Oh! That is wrong......They left the dog with Us....We soon became afraid that our dog would stick in his throat and hurt him.....so we insisted they take their dog along....He was a good dog..We really missed HIM.....I think he was very protective of my Grandson...And probably could have been taught to fetch bears...If he was properly trained...
We burned the couch...when she had the lump excised from our lives.....I wish I could say we all lived happily ever after...That's not the way it works is it?????Now my Grandson is a healthy happy teenager..just like all the other teens, he is a huge collection of hormone with an appetite...And feet...He still has his Grandparents wrapped around his little finger..They have not yet succumbed completely to the charms of the newer fresher model of Pamper consumer.....But, these have their Own HOME.....And none of them own a dog!
