Summer

When I was a kid somehow the school year lasted for an eternity. No way was I imprisoned in school for only ten months.
I'm sure my teachers and parents conspired to trick me into thinking that the school year was only ten months, when in reality, it was at least twenty-four months.
Since my math skills have always been suspect, this deception was easily orchestrated. The good news for me was that my teachers and parents made a crucial error in their calculations. As a result, my summers as a child seemed to last for about six months.
Those early years when I was growing up and had no summer job were the best. I had twenty-four hours a day to play, goof-off, and get into mischief.
Actually, it was much like retirement is today, except now I don't scrape my knees, my complexion is better, and I don't tease girls, for fear of a lawsuit.
