"Acting" Like Grownups

These teenagers live to perform. They attend a special high school for the arts but say their best learning happens outside of the classroom. They've found some of the wisest people the world and used their words to tell an amazing story. It's an intergenerational masterpiece, inspired by a man who's helping others leave legacies. But as Growing Bolder found out, he says he's the one that's being inspired by the kids.

Talking Smack ... For a Good Cause

5k runs are everywhere these days. And they're almost always for a good cause. One of our favorites is the Dick Batchelor Run for the Children. Dick happens to be the husband of our Director of Corporate Virtue Andrea Batchelor and our VP Bill Shafer has been part of the race for more than 20 years. But we really love it for raising more than $1 million to treat victims of child abuse. Be sure to watch as three "legendary" runners talk some smack about the younger generation!

Everyone Say Wiiiii!

More and more people are going wireless -- and we're not talking about cell phones. At a recent active living trade show, Growing Bolder met a woman who's embraced the Nintendo Wii video game system and is not only smashing stereotypes, she's bowling people over with ... well, her bowling! See how she's taking on the youngest gamers.

It's Never Too Late to Play

Who says you can't go home? In the case of 59-year-old Mike Flynt, "home" is a football field filled with hard-hitting 350-pound linemen and tough-talking coaches. But he wouldn't have it any other way. Nearly 40 years after he first took the field, the grandfather is now the oldest college football player in the country. Find out how he got a second shot at taking the field and fulfilling his dreams.

You're Never Too Old to Kick Butt

Around the extreme sports tours, young athletes look up to and up at 53-year-old Donna Vano as she soars through the air. The Godmother of Action Sports is a world-class snowboarder who has collected a lot of her own hardware and helped some of her "kids" collect theirs. In a recent conversation with the Growing Bolder Radio Show, Donna explained how she helped nurture the career of the "Flying Tomato" Shaun White and how her own battles with cancer shaped her love-for-life attitude.

Masters of Disguise

Clothes make a statement. Costumes tell a story. There was some interesting "storytelling" going on at this year's Famous Faces Masquerade Ball. The President threw out the first pitch, the Aging Superheroes took home the top prize and Borat took home Pamela ... we think. Can you hear me now? Not only did one of our own start this highly anticipated annual charity tradition, the GB gang was there in force. See if you can pick us out.

In the next Growing Bolder Insider: Lace up your shoes, slap on your swim cap and get your bike ready because we're going to take you to a triathlon where one of the most extraordinary things is how ordinary it is to see men and women over 40 dominating the field. Plus, Growing Bolder's Marc Middleton and Bill Shafer are invited to show big-time ad and marketing professionals why they've got it all wrong. Can the Bolder Boys pull it off or will they be eaten alive by these successful executives? Coming to your inbox next week!
