Kazoo: The Rebuttal

We thought it was all in fun. We never expected to light a firestorm of controversy, but it happened. After watching our recent coverage of a world record attempt at putting together the largest crowd ever to simultaneously play the kazoo, a man became incensed, irate and insulted. Not by our story, but by the event itself! Was it disrespectful to the kazoo and to the many talented kazoo virtuosos out there in the world? Did it make a mockery of great kazoo icons of the past? Growing Bolder in Hollywood

She played meddling mother and wife Marie Barone on the TV show "Everybody Loves Raymond," but the reason we really love Doris Roberts is her advocacy against ageism. Roberts testified before the U.S. Senate on the subject and addressed the Committee on Aging in 2002. She says it's unfair that just because someone lives beyond the age of 50 that they can't work anymore. Roberts talks to Growing Bolder about the opportunities for older people in Hollywood and how they're perceived when they're in the limelight.

78-year-old Mohandas Gandhi -- preacher of non-violence -- is assassinated in New Delhi. Gandhi had dedicated his life to discovering truth, by learning from his mistakes and doing experiments on himself. His message lasts long after his death, influencing leaders around the world to this day.

55-year-old Samuel Alito Jr. takes office as the 110th Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. It is the fulfillment of a dream started in high school, when Alito noted in his yearbook that he hoped to "eventually warm a seat on the Supreme Court."
