"The Star-Spangled Banner" officially becomes the national anthem. Francis Scott Key wrote the words in 1814 and the melody was later set to the tune of a popular British drinking song.

A plane crash claims the life of 30-year-old country music legend Patsy Cline. In 2001, the Country Music industry votes her the all-time Greatest Woman of Country Music.

Led Zeppelin is given the honor of being the "most bootlegged band" in Britain when 422 illegal albums are counted. The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and The Beatles are next in line with more than 350 unauthorized titles available.

The son of the late "Big Bopper," Jay Richardson, hires a forensic anthropologist to investigate the death of his father after rumors that he had been shot during the ill-fated 1959 flight that also claimed the lives of Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Paul McCartney pleads guilty to charges of growing marijuana outside his Scottish countryside farm and is fined $240. He says that a fan gave him the seeds and he didn't know what they would grow.
