InterestsHistory, genealogy. I am back in Mensa, not that I am really smart, just because I want to do something but I haven't been active. Not a good person for groups. Otherwise, politics would have been something I wanted to do. But those meetings...

Foods
Right now, it is fish. But I am not very haute cuisine, sometimes I love to cook, sometimes I don't care what is on the table. Eating outdoors is rare as in expensive, I am the cook at home mostly. My favorite dishes to make? Nasi Goreng (baked rice, Indonesian stylish), fish, Boef Bourguignon although I am not a real meat eater myself, chickensoup, soup, and I can do a nice appelpie with cinnamon :)
MusicIrish songs. French chansons. Classic.
MoviesThe English patient , The .... mr Ripley ( something like that,) Second hand lions. Indiana Jones! Pirates of the carribean! (I am so shallow)
Danny Kaye.
TelevisionAs the world turns .... I know :) but since 'Cleo'appeared, I am over my addiction. That was too much nonsense for me.
Little Britain, and look alikes! Absolutely Fabulous! And BBC costume drama's. All BBC things really. And the news. Politics etc. Escape to the country, were people want to move into cottages and knock their heads to the ceiling. Lots of potential! :) Heimat

Passions/HobbiesGenealogy. OK, I have done my family tree and found some people I can call ancestor now whom I knew from history lessons only. So that is nice. ("wow, that's family!")

Posted 10:19pm May 2nd, 2009Ina... about my prescription glasses that I sat on 3 times. The first time it happened, it was after 11:00 at night. There had been a minor car accident not too far from the front of our house. I was trying to watch the activity from my living room window. The lights were off in the room so that I could see outside better. For some reason, I took my glasses off and placed them on an end table. I got tired of standing, so I thought I'd sit down on the end table to watch the action. That's when I sat on my glasses. They got bent and lopsided. On another day, I sat on my glasses for the second time; but this time, it helped straighten out my glasses. They were no longer so lopsided. The third time I sat on them, it just pushed the bottom part of the lenses to fit closer to my cheeks. They still serve the purpose until I get my new glass prescription filled at the opticians. My old ones have wire frames. I think I have one or two pictures of me wearing my glasses. If I can find them, I'll post them for you to see.

I have many of them too. They are gone now. They were late here this year too.
Do you know this plant , Bergenia, in English called Elephant Ears? It can blossom very early, even in December I have seen. It is in our garden at 3 places. This image is from google though

Posted 1:10pm April 12th, 2009I found these 3 pictures by doing a Google Image search.
Snowdrops - Very first flower of the year. If conditions are mild, they can blossom as early as January. I didn't notice mine in 2009 until March. I think Snowdrops might be a very early variety of Crocus.
Crocus
Grape Hyacinth - We don't have any of these in our yard. I should plant some for next year.

Posted 3:03pm March 9th, 2009Hi Ina... The 10 to 14 inches of snow that Connecticut received from Winter Storm Demi on March 1, completely melted after a few days of unseasonably warm temperatures and some rain. But being New England, it is currently 35 degrees and snowing AGAIN. The temperature is expected to go down into the 20s this evening.

Posted 5:36pm February 11th, 2009Hi Ina... I like the "half face" avatar you currently have on your profile.
It sort of fits the same theme as Dave Knechel's top half of his head =)
I have not recovered from the chaos from before Christmas and the floor renovations. I had to move so much of my stuff. It may have looked like a mess of boxes and junk before the men came to work, but at least I knew where everything was. Now I can't find anything.
I was severely overdue on writing a newsletter for my town's senior citizens. Tomorrow (Feb.12) is their monthly meeting, and I had to have something I could report. So yesterday, I worked on the newsletter all afternoon. My husband and I will pick it up at the printers Thursday morning at 9:00. The meeting starts at 11:00. They will make 300 sets. The seniors attending the meeting (approximately 60) will be glad to get their copies handed to them. I will mail the rest in a few days. They will need to be folded, sealed, addressed, sorted and brought to the post office. I think the post office should pay me for sorting the newsletters, but I will have to pay THEM.
The next project waiting for me is to work on my family's income tax returns. It seems like I no sooner finish a project, then there is another one waiting for me to complete.

I received an email notice that you sent me a message in my Growing Bolder inbox. When I was able to log back on after the GB technical difficulties, I was unable to read your message. Do you remember what you wrote? Did you delete that message, or maybe it's disappearance had something to do with the GB technical difficulties?
I'll have to fix my profile picture, because that disappeared too.

Posted 9:18am January 17th, 2009Good Morning Ina...
It was (-1) Fahrenheit [[(-18) Celsius]] when I woke up yesterday 1/16 and Zero Fahrenheit [[(-17) Celsius]] when I woke up this morning 1/17. It must be cold where you live?
I have some short videos of a deer in my backyard. I'll try to post them on my You Tube account and will let you know when they are up.
If my husband only grinned in his sleep, I would poke him with my elbow or put my cold hands on his belly.
