You Can Go Home Again
Two weeks ago, my husband and I took our 5-year-old to the city where we met and fell in love -- Washington, DC. We both lived there after college, and one night by chance, a girl from Pennsylvania met a boy from Florida and the rest is history. This was our daughter's third trip to the city we left 10 years ago but it's probably the first one she'll remember. We did all the things parents do to...

Why do so many kids have allergies these days?
I was at a dinner party the other night with seven other moms. All of us have children ranging in ages from 4 months old up to 7 years old.
In that small group, four of the mothers have children with severe food allergies. And none of the mothers (or fathers, for that matter) suffer from the same allergies.
Sadly, these are mild allergies. I have a mild allergy to bananas and eggplant. My...
Dr. Drake's Girl
I don't know whether I'm ashamed or proud to admit this, but I've been watching General Hospital on and off for about 20 years now.
From Anna and Robert to Frisco and Felicia to Brenda and Sonny, I have followed along with every plot twist and turn. It's a show that I first watched with my grandmother on summer breaks. Every afternoon, we had to set time aside so she could watch "her stories."...
I think traveling is good for the soul. This weekend, I headed to Boston for a girls weekend with my best friends from college. We left the kids and husbands at home and spent the entire time talking, laughing, drinking wine and catching up on our lives.
And yes, there was dessert. Lots of dessert.
It's just too hard to have long, meaningful conversations on a regular basis when you're busy...
Something in the Air
There's just something about fall isn't there? It's invigorating.
Even though temperatures are still in the low 90s here in Florida, something has changed. I think we all instinctively heed the call of back to school. I suppose that's what spending the most formative years of your life associating September with a new start will do that to you!
I'm just amazed how the entire business world...
This weekend, we took our 3-year-old for her first canoe trip down Juniper Springs run in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. We even saw some real wild wildlife along the way ...
Don't worry -- they're used to canoers and keep their distance.
It was great to show her that gators, turtles, fish and birds are actually wild creatures, not just the entertainment at Animal Kingdom.
Happy Easter from our family to yours!
We dyed Easter eggs and we'll have an Easter egg for our 3 year old on Easter morning. The Heavenly Ham is already in the fridge and we're still trying to decide on sides.
What are your holiday traditions?
Wherever you are, I wish you a happy, hoppy day!
So the Beatles are Finally on iTunes ...
Anyone else underwhelmed by this news today? Personally, I already own every Beatles CD, anthology and most of Paul and John's solo works. I've already loaded them onto to my computer so that I can listen to them through iTunes or my iPod.
So maybe this is big news for the casual fan who already doesn't own everything.
What do you think? Will you be snapping up any Fab Four downloads? Is this...
An a-MAIZE-ing weekend
Pardon the pun, but you'll see why I can't resist.
This weekend, our family went to the overwhelming and very cool corn maze at Long and Scott's Farm in Mount Dora, Florida.
It's HUGE. Look at all those acres of corn stalks to navigate through!
After realizing how big it was, we stuck to the mini-maze. Seeing as how we had a 2-year-old leading the way, the last thing we wanted was to be...
