Description

Throughout Meg Gaffney's battle with breast cancer, she's marked milestones: the first time she was able to feed herself after a mastectomy; the first walk around the block. But this may be the most important of them all -- the first look in the mirror after her final reconstruction surgery.

I am so thankful for this site and the video's that Meg

is going. My name is Meghan and I just had my bilateral mastectomy on the 16th of May, and am now looking for what the next step is in the tatooing of the nipple. I would love to get some more insite on who would be doing yours, and if i could find someone in my area who is knowledgeable on breast cancer here. Thank you for your strength, it makes my feelings on whats happened to me validated. mkg

    Dear Meg:

I just looked at your story, and we have soooo much in common!  I also come from a nursing background, was dx with DCIS last Sept.  mastectomy one side, lumpectomy other side Dec. 20th, expander to DD (with other side AA after implants were removed) and just had my reconstruction last Thursday May 22nd.  I see that you had a rough time and are not happy with your outcome (ne neither) however, mine are not as of kilter as yours!!  I don't know if you are local (I am in Longwood, near Orlando) but would love to get together and vent!

Unlike you, I was ready to go back under the knife this week to fix it!!!  I see that you had drains again....I would feel differently if I had drains.  THAT IS TORTURE!!!!!!!

Please feel free to contact me any time.  I am there for you!

    Kim Marosek!

    Dear Meg,

You look beautiful! I am having reconstructive surgery in June.

I had a Bi-Lateral in June of last year and developed MRSA

in the hospital. They had to call me in for emergency surgery

to remove the expanders and the journey has been a long one

because my husband is suffering in Chemo trying to get him

into remission for the 2nd time. He has lung cancer.

I know from your story what to expect. I suffered this past year

like you would't believe. I am waiting for my surgeon's call

either today or tomorrow to schedule me.

If you have any advise or tips, feel free to contact me.

    Hugs and Prayers,

    GR
