wish there were more people like Mr. bill...and wish there were more places like the second harvest food bank all over the place...the little food shelves in little towns are struggling to keep food on their shelves...

Mr. Bill, You are an inspiration to all.  Wish that I could give you and your family and all your volunteers a big hug.  But best of all, what I must do now is follow my heart and find the a way to help in my community.  Your dedication and passion warms my heart.  So many people are touched by your generosity of spirit, love and time.

It's good to see someone so full of passion for what he does and to see how the young kids getting involved as well. When you have someone like Bill who inspires others, what more can you ask for and what a great cause.

You know what offends me?  Someone who is obviously misinformed about food banking making off-the-cuff remarks like that.  In working with America's Second Harvest and food banks around the country, I can tell you that the slightest HINT of selling food is dealt with severely by this organization.  There has never been a time that food banking has been more needed in this country and the work that these people do keeps communities together.  Shame on that group for making such a statement.

Growing Bolder received two emails about a comment left on this page. They were left anonymously, but we feel they are worth posting to continue the discussion.

"The poster states that Second Harvest sells the free food they get.  This is not true.  It would seem that Penny, the poster, has her own agenda, which is apparently religious in nature.  I find it offensive that someone claiming to be a Christian would lie about a non-profit organization that distributes food to the needy for free."

"Not the place to be denegrating the efforts of others, even if their methods do not co-incide with your own."

We've been working with Mr. Bill for several years now and he is part of the reason we keep going back and volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank.  He's just the greatest guy to work with.

GOOD GOING  MR  BILL  IT WOULD  BE NICE IF WE HAD HELPERS LIKE YOU   2ND HARVEST SELLS THE FREE FOOD  THEY GET.  TO THEM THAT ARE IN NEED,  WE GIVE OURS AWAY  TO THOES IN NEED NEVER TURNED AWAY,  WE WORRY ABOUT THE MONEY FROM OTHER SORCES, GOD SAID  GIVE TO YOUR  BROTHER NOT EXPECTING BACK   GOOOD GOING   MR BILL i HOPE WE FIND A GUY LIKE YOU,   PENNY

Mr. Bill is such an incredible asset to the food bank.  My family and I have worked with him in the warehouse and keep coming back for more.  This was a great story!

Great man!  We need more people like this to provide a helping hand when needed.
