WMFE IS GROWING BOLDER

Orlando, Fla. (Oct. 01, 2008) The Growing Bolder TV Show, featuring local news veterans Marc Middleton and Bill Shafer, has been picked up by Orlando PBS affiliate WMFE-TV.  

“The Growing Bolder TV Show is unlike anything on TV,” said Growing Bolder Founder and President, Marc Middleton.  “It’s positive, life-affirming storytelling about ordinary people living extraordinary lives. We prove that it’s not about age, it’s about attitude.”

“We are excited about the partnership with Growing Bolder and the experience the team brings to WMFE,” said Dale Spear, Sr. Vice President for Operations and Chief Operating Officer for WMFE.  “Marc and Bill know the Central Florida community and through Growing Bolder they are able to share wonderful stories of local people embracing life.”

The Growing Bolder TV Show is produced by veteran journalists Katy Widrick and Jackie Carlin and shot and edited by Emmy Award-winning videographer Jason Morrow.  “We’ve assembled an all-star team,” said Growing Bolder Executive Vice President Bill Shafer.  “And we’re focusing all of our creative energies on Central Floridians who are smashing stereotypes, overcoming obstacles, giving back to the community, starting new businesses, and living active lives.”

The Growing Bolder TV Show will air weekly at 11:30 am on WMFE-TV beginning Sunday, October 5. Stories in the first few episodes include an exclusive home movie from Rock Hall of Famer Roger McGuinn, a surprising intergenerational showdown in the swimming pool, a look at the family made famous by artist Norman Rockwell, Central Florida’s top philanthropists, "Banana" George Blair attempting to barefoot water ski at age 93, international turtle expert Peter Pritchard, tips on how to live to 100, cancer survivor stories and more.

“Everything we know about aging is changing overnight,” said Middleton.  “This is great news for everyone.  It’s truly never too late to start over, to chase your dreams, to make a difference.  The Growing Bolder TV Show is a playbook for the new opportunities that are now everywhere. The show is unique. We hope to have it syndicated nationwide within 12 months.”
