If you bumped into Charles Fox at the grocery store, you'd probably have no idea who he was. But you certainly know his songs.

The writer and composer is the man behind some of the most iconic songs of our generation, including, most notably, "Killing Me Softy With His Song."

He also wrote the theme songs for shows like "Wide World of Sports," "Happy Days," "Laverne and Shirley," "The Love Boat," and "Love, American Style."

His songs have won Grammys and Emmys and he's been nominated for an Academy Award -- twice.

Now he's telling his fascinating life story in his new autobiography, "Killing Me Softly: My Life in Music."

Charles says he's honored that his music has meant so much to so many. He tells the story of a couple who shared with him how they fell in love over Roberta Fleck's version of "Killing Me Softly." He says it's an extraordinary feeling to have your words make that much of an impact.

But he's not resting on his laurels. Charles, now 71, says he's too busy writing songs for tomorrow and that there are still roads left to explore.

Before he heads down them, he treats us with stories about working with greats like Jim Croce and Carly Simon. Plus, find out how one of his songs meant so much to the legendary Lena Horne.
