Johnny Mathis is one of our most beloved singers, and he's still going strong. Now 73, he's still touring and still in love with the business.

His greatest hits album is in the Guinness Book of World Records for spending nearly 10 straight years on the Billboard charts. It's even more amazing when you consider how his career almost never happened. Mathis was a great athlete in his youth. He was a track star and excelled at the high jump. In fact, in 1956 he had to choose between trying out for the Olympic team and signing his first contract with Columbia Records.

The very next year his appearance on the Ed Sullivan show turned him into an "overnight" sensation. He hasn't slowed down since.

These days, he's hitting the road to promote his new CD, "A Night to Remember."

I could say many things about Johnny Mathis, but I don´t have a lot of space here. I just will say that I have listened to him many years ago, and from the first moment, he, his voice and his songs become in a very special and essential part of my Life. His voice always sounds harmonious, warm, full of love, honesty, exquisite and perfect. Each word, each note he does remember me that true Love is real and possible for everyone; and that Music is one of the most wonderful, magic and extraordinary gifts that Life gives us. He always sounds unique, and unrepeatable.

He makes Christmas much more special and lovely than this wonderful time already is in itself. I can´t say in December that Christmas Time has began at all, if there is not a Mathis CD playing at home; and I know I am not the only one:  His Christmas performances are the most  lovely and beautiful I´ve ever heard. They always bring memory and flavor of Peace, of Hope, of Forgiveness, of Love, of Joy and delicious food and presents.

Johnny Mathis is much more than a singer. He is part of Harmony, Goodness, Beauty, Youth and Joy of Life; and of course, part of my own Life. Of my dreams, memories, feelings, emotions, happy and romantic moments. He, his voice and songs live in my soul, in my blood and in my ears forever.

God blesses him for share with us the great gift of his talent and his exquisite feeling and style. Simply, this world wouldn´t be complete without him. He and his music are a very live and precious patrimony of Music, Harmony, Peace, Youth, Joy, Love and Warmness for everyone.

Somebody in an interview, asked if someone could stop to hear his voice. My answer is: No, Never, I couldn´t absolutely!

Thank  you Johnny Mathis for your contribution to make this world more beautiful, joyful, peaceful and lovely. Much love and many kisses from me and from Mexico. We love you.

I would like to send my special congratulations to Mr. Scott Lavender who is a very good pianist and a genial Director of the wonderful Orchestra that supplies the music in Mathis´ shows. All the musical arrangements are excellent. He understands very well Mr. Mathis´ rhythm and style and they flow wonderfully together and the sound is great.

By the way, I couldn´t find an article that is mentioned in the Mathis´ official website (News Area), about Mr. Lavender and his mother Polly. Please, if someone have it, I will appreciate and thank so much, someone sends me this to my e-mail.

Love, Peace and Joy for everyone,

He sure does have that Certain Smile. I saw him on Long Island many years ago, in a white suit and sitting on a chair. The spot light came up and Ieaned forward in my chair. My husband bought me my first album, Chanes Are, I thought I was in Love. Glad to hear he is still singing. A wonderful voice. Thank you Johnny Mathis.

This month marks my 49th year as a Johnny Mathis fan.  I cherish memories of my 13th birthday when my mother presented me with a Johnny Mathis album as a birthday present.

I was about 16 years old when I fell madly in love with Johnny Mathis.  I own just about everything Mathis has ever released.  If you don't believe me, then ask the lp/cd dealers from Spain/Netherlands, etc.  I have had the good fortune of seeing/hearing Mathis in the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, and again in the 2000s.  I love this remarkable man!!

I believe Johnny Mathis is much more than a singer writer actor,if all men were like him what a wonderul world it would be,he is truly a beautiful spirit in the universe, his family must be so proud of him.

every complimentry thing has been said about his voice and music, when I hear his voice it takes my breath away even after all these years, I had a beautiful encounter ith him about 48 years ago, and would you believe it I did not know who he was,it changed my life in a profound way, which I will not share, other than to say I love this man purely and unconditionally.

Love to you and those you love always

What can I say, he is just absolutely the best!  It's always been a dream of mine to meet him personally and who knows, maybe some day!  My husband and I are both fans and travel to see him when he's on tour as often as we are able to financially. What I wouldn't give to be able to attend more.  It brings me right back to my childhood when I listen to him and his wonderful voice.  Johnny, if you see this, please never stop touring.  Your fans love you and wish you the very best always.

I love the verve I hear in John's voice in this great audio interview with you. It really comes through how much you honor him as well. I've been in love with his music since he started some 53 years ago. We've grown up and grown older together as in; he sings, I listen and always wish for more. It seems impossbile that I've loved this wonderful, kindest man's superlative, everlasting voice these many years. I am always so happy that I was born at the perfect time to have Johnny Mathis as my favorite singer through my lifetime. Thank you for every single note Johnny; I love you very much! Be well, stay happy!

Johnny is just about as good as it gets in music ... and he is such a class act ... a real kind gentleman.  I have the 2nd largest Johnny Mathis collection worldwide ... and I have some things in my collection that are not possible to duplicate ... ones of a kind.  I've Johnny maybe a dozen times ...  he never disappoints ... he's never rude, that I've ever seen ... just a good/solid chap! (shall we say)?  I wish that he'd make himself more open to trying new outlets venues in the entertainment world.  Tony Bennett is everywhere you look for the last 10 years.  Johnny should be able to have those opportunities too ... but he doesn't push, and he seems content with his level of fame - he definitely has nothing to prove to anyone.  It's nice to hear Johnny in this interview.  His fans are all hoping he keeps the music playing for many years to come.  Cheers to Johnny Mathis!

Typically guileless.  Sometimes unpredictable.  Always wonderful.  That is Johnny Mathis.
If he were of another profession, the sentiment would still be the same.  Lucky for us that his world is one of music of the most sublime kind enlightened by a voice like no other, and lucky for the world that his parents dreamed along with him.  "Dream along with me...I'm on my way to a star." {Carl Sigman}  Totally and Consistently Fabulous!
