Maureen McGovern is a legendary singer who has gone from singing in disaster movies to making her real-life dreams come true.

The Grammy and Oscar Award-winning singer has been a 1970s pop star, a Broadway star, a folk singer, a world-class cabaret vocalist and the singing nun in the movie “Airplane!”

She says she’s never stopped reinventing herself, and at age 59, she’s still doing what she loves best.

The woman best known for her song “The Morning After” from the movie “The Poseidon Adventure,” has a new album called “A Long and Winding Road.” It’s a salute to some of the singers and songwriters of the 1960s. and it’s earning rave reviews. She says she walked away from the recording industry in the ‘70s because she was no longer interested in recording other people’s song picks. She says she vowed to not record again until it was on her terms, and now that wish has come true.

When she's not focusing on her own career, she's helping others through her foundation, The Maureen McGovern Works of Heart Foundation, which helps people and caregivers heal through the power of music. For the past 27 years, she's also appeared on the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
