Songs about dogs? Credit cards? Raising a child?

Mickey Carroll has quite a unique approach to music these days. Back in the 1950s, when he released his first record, being a star was all about ego. And he had reasons to have an ego. He was one half of the doo-wop duo Billy and Mickey, the first white duo to be played on black radio.

Then, he wrote a song for the group The Whispers, which rose to No. 1 on the R&B charts, went gold and was nominated for a Grammy. if that wasn't enough, he was also the first artist to record an album at sea, working with some of the top musicians and Elvis Presley's former producer.

Now 70, Mickey says he's found a more rewarding role -- musical community activist. Find out what that is and how he's making a difference in many lives in his community.
