Ray Stevens exploded onto the charts in 1962, when his song "Ahab the Arab" climbed to No. 5 on the pop charts.
These days, he's working on a TV show pilot that takes place at an old folks home for entertainers and it's called, "We Ain't Dead Yet." He says he looks at age as something to celebrate, something to share and certainly something to joke about.
Ray's sense of humor has carried him through four decades, but perhaps he's most remembered for something that wasn't funny at all. In 1970, he released, "Everything Is Beautiful," which soared to No. 1 on the charts and won Ray a Grammy Award. He was considering a strong follow-up, but regretfully chose to pass on the song, "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head." BJ Thomas picked it up and it turned out to be the biggest hit of Thomas' career.
But Stevens says he's learned how to keep his focus forward. At age 70, he feels strong, creative and convinced he has much more to give.
