For three years, Carol Leifer was a writer and producer on "Seinfeld," where she not only contributed to some very memorable episodes ("The Marble Rye", "The Beard" and "The Lip Reader"), she also walked away with Writers Guild and Emmy Award nominations. She's also worked on "The Larry Sanders Show", "The Ellen Show" and "Saturday Night Live."
Carol began her stand-up career in the late 1970s and got her big break when David Letterman happened to be in the audience. That led to 25 appearances on "Late Night With David Letterman." She's starred in specials for Cinemax and Showtime and makes frequent TV appearances.
But what she's doing now just may trump them all -- she's written a fabulous book, "When You Lie About Your Age The Terrorists Win," which embodies the Growing Bolder attitude. She is proud to embrace her age and all that comes with it. She says she refuses to live an inauthentic life and deny all the wonderful things that have come with living life well for more than 50 years.

Posted 10:14pm September 9th, 2009I really value this interview. Never heard of her before. Thanks for the introduction. I will check out her book. I have been re-creating myself as a 65-yo woman who has to completely start over in order to support myself and perhaps a grandson and more.

Posted 4:16pm May 20th, 2009It was great to see this interview with Carol. I recently ordered her book and look forward to reading it. I've known Carol since 4th grade but now I live here in Orlando and she's in LA. We connected again at our 32nd high school reunion in New York in 2006. I'm proud of her as I have dedicated my life's work to changing the culture of aging in our society and part of that is embracing our years of life experience. The more years of experience I have, the more I realize that we are "survivors" with each year that we live. My mother who has 87 years of life experience is truly a survivor! Let's all be survivors!

Posted 1:07pm May 14th, 2009Great interview! Her book sounds like a fun read. Thank you for featuring "mature" women like Ms. Leifer. She has embraced life as it is and as it can be. Love it!
