Franklin Hooper is an 89-year-old dynamo. He's just published his second book, “Deadline for a Dark Horse,” a satirical political novel about what could happen to the presidential process if an extremely appealing third party candidate stepped in and pulled votes away from the two "legitimate" candidates.
Hooper is as fascinating as anything he's written. He was a copy boy at the New York Times in 1941 when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. He went on to fight in World War II before becoming a teacher and historian. He also participated in the March on Washington in the 1960s.
His age and experience gives him a unique perspective on a very tumultuous part of American history. You can hear the strength, resolve and passion in his voice to this day.
