Psychotherapist, author and magazine publisher Nan Fink Gefen says she was bugged when she realized something about the publishing industry -- women are ignored once they hit the age of 60.
She says there is hardly any literature, any art or creativity in general out there from women over 60. She found that all too often, their work is disregarded, despite the fact that there are many women over 60 who are actually at the height of their creative abilities.
So she did something about it. She created The Persimmon Tree, an online literary magazine to give them the exposure they deserve.
She was advised by everyone not to do it because of the misconception that people of that age don't use the Internet, but much to the contrary, her site has made a sizable impact and given voice to people who had been silenced.
