America's Favorite Pharmacist Suzy Cohen believes we are way overmedicated. She says one of the biggest hidden dangers in taking too many prescriptions is that many drugs rob our bodies of essential nutrients. She calls these "drug muggers" and it's the name of her brand new book.
For starters, Suzy is very leery of statins, which are some of the most commonly prescribed medications in the country. She points to recent testing that shows that niacin outperforms statins. According to some studies, niacin can improve HDL in cholesterol and lower LPa as a major risk factor for heart disease. And the best thing about niacin is that it isn't a drug at all -- it's a B-vitamin.
Suzy believes this is the kind of information everyone needs to know about but most of us don't.
