Turning 50, 60, 70 or 80 these days isn't as big a deal as it used to be. Those birthdays are just another milestone in the mid-life experience.

Despite unprecedented opportunities for growth and experiences, there are also a lot of frustrations.

These challenges were something that Dr. Tim Athey, the president of Transition Leadership in Fort Collins, Colo., was living through himself, so he started keeping a journal.

His musings became the basis for his book, "The Second Journey: Mid-Life Challenges for the Baby Boomer Generation."

Find out why he thinks the unique period in this country's history that the Boomers grew up in is still impacting their lives as adults. He says Boomers need to recapture that spirit of the 1960s and incorporate it into their mid-life experiences.
