At the time, it was just a simple, selfless act. The right thing to do. Seventy years later, a young Army captain's good idea is responsible for saving countless lives.
It was just one incident in the long, rewarding life of Dr. Norman Wall, who is one of the most compelling, relevant and fascinating 97-year-olds on the planet.
He weighs in with the dramatic differences he's seen during his long medical career (including a front-row seat to the work of Dr. Jonas Salk) and why he thinks today's doctors are failing their patients in one key area.

Posted 10:25pm June 1st, 2011Hello Dr. Wall, I was one of your GP resident whom you skillfully mentored and molded so well that I continue to practice to this day ever since finishing my residency in 1966 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville,PA. You look very well, content and have lived knowingly or not saying to yourself, "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference."God bless you sir. Posted 11:18am May 23rd, 2011To paraphrase a Jewish Proverb- "More than what a student desires to learn, his teacher desires to instruct". Norman has a lot to teach doctors and people and does so with patience and humility. Hope I find myself with "time to kill" in Florida this summer- it won't be wasted talking to my Unle Norman! I'll just try to avoid politics...
What blessing Norman has been to so many people! Someone get that man on the 2012 ticket!
