Joan Hansen is the director of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program in Orange County, Fla. She helps people over the age of 55 become involved in the community through volunteer work.

She talked to Growing Bolder about her newest program, which is helping to break the cycle of crime and incarceration that passes from one generation to the next.

She says seniors are having a tremendous impact on the lives of thousands of people in her community.
