"How's Rachel? Is Chariot Still Running?" We get the questions daily. Rachel, of course, is Rachel Veitch, the hard-driving, gun-toting, America-loving nonagenarian who became an international celebrity after we told her story. How's she doing? For starters, she's a little nervous to have Marc behind the wheel of her beloved Chariot. But she's also getting ready for a little body work of her own. She shares her busy plans for the coming months (you could say she's on a bit of a media blitz) and she answers the question everyone wants to know: how many miles are on Chariot now?

I don't know why everyone on here acts like they know this woman when they more than likely don't. If they did, they would know that she is NOT at all the nice person she portrays herself to be. I am her Great Granddaughter and I know first hand how mean she really is.

Hi Rachel,

We hope your doing good after your surgery. You are such a sweet person and we think its great that you are driving and that your car is doing great for you. God Bless you ! Anyone notice that this car is a Ford ? and DINA there is always someone who wants to take freedom away from someone else... and if you are smart you would know those cars never had the shoulder harness they didnt start putting those in untill later on. She drives better then most people on the roads today.

If God allows you Dina to make it to your 90's are you going to hire a driver?

I hope Rachel has done well with her surgery. I have to disagree with Dina. I think she does fine driving & almost everyday you have to constantly watch people on cell phones weaving in & out of traffic & changing lanes never even looking to see if they can get over & I have even seen idiots texting on the interstate. I don't see where our phone calls & text messages are so important that you don't obey all traffic laws or paying attention.I think those things should be banned period.I think these things are entirely more dangerous than senior citizens driving.Not to mention idiots brushing their teeth,applying make up, shaving ,reading the paper, drinking or taking narcotics .

Dear Rachel, My husband and I loved the video piece done on you. You are one sponkie lady. I agree with you on the issue that as a person gets on in years they should be tested when renewing their drivers license. It would be practicing good safety. My husband's aunt drove until she was 90. She is now 95 and knows that it is in everyone's best interest that she's no longer behind the wheel. She is our inspiration on how to live life to its fullest. People are living longer now so, I think driving should be viewed case by case. Look at the younger people that are texting, talking on their phones, putting on make-up, eating, and who knows what else while driving. So, Rachel keep on driving and enjoying life as long as you can. Just because you are 91 years young doesn't mean you have to sit in a rocking chair and watch the time go by. Getting old is a mind set. 91 is just a number.

Oh, cut me a break! This woman is a wonder. Do you see her driving crazy on a highway like the 20 or 30 somethings do, weaving in and out and cutting you off?

My dad drove til the day before he died at 93 and I think that is what kept him alive so long. To be older and able to go on an adventure is a freedom that most seniors don't have. When my dad felt sad, he got in his car and his spirits picked up tremendously. He knew if he wasn't strong on a particular day, he didn't go in the car. Older people still do have sense most of the time, and a lot more than a lot of middle aged people I know.

Don't be so critical, Dina. How many accidents or short turns have you had in 560,000 miles? I'll bet a few!!!

I think you are missing the point. Rachel is 91 years old. She should not be behind the wheel. Let's list some of the reasons....1. She was looking at the map upside down. Perhaps her sight isn't what it should be. 2. She has a torn rotator cuff. Perhaps, her dexterity is a little decreased. 3. When driving, her left turn was a little short. Good thing a car wasn't coming toward her. 4. I didn't see any shoulder harness. Was there a seat belt put in the car. They weren't available in 1954. 5. Looks like reminders are posted here and there. Perhaps her memory isn't so good. What is that left pedal for? 6. Finally, just maybe her reflexes are a teensy bit not shot.

I am not against Senior Citizens. I am one myselft, but please, let's be realistic. Safety first.

It is great that her car has last for so long. Maybe with all her fame, she can hire a driver.

One cannot help but be drawn to delightful Rachel, but one can also not help but be drawn to the usual master class in interview technique and enthusiasm conducted by Marc Middleton. The guy could interview my mailbox and make it a fascinating, interesting story!

Dear Rachel, Im 57 and live near Myrtle Beach. I just loved your video. I also have rotor cuff problems, it is so painful, no one understands unless they have it. I hope that your surgery goes well and relieves the pain for you. I will check in later to see how your doing. My husband is a service manager for a ford dealership and he is always saying to take care of your vehicle. You are a very unique and special lady!!! I love your comet!!!!

Rachel,

It's great to see you going on tour with your beautiful Comet. This will be an opportunity for you to teach people how good maintenance practices can keep a car going for miles and miles. Good luck on your rotator cuff surgery.

I feel like I am just getting started with my 1999 Corvette with only 108,000 miles on it. I just had a right knee replacement and can hardly wait to get back to autocrossing with my car.

Best of luck to you on the tour. I hope you keep going for miles and miles.
