Growing Bolder means taking risks, but sometimes accidents can happen as you pursue your passions. That's what happened to Sandy Scott.

He was 65 years old and had just started cycling competitively the year before. He was competing in a time trial race in Gainesville, Florida, and as he approached the start/finish line at a high rate of speed, an official stepped in his path. In an effort to avoid the official, Sandy swerved his bike and landed headfirst on the pavement.

When he woke up 25 minutes later, he discovered that his C1 vertebrae was shattered.

Not only did Sandy survive the rarest and most dangerous of all neck fractures, he found the courage and strength to first walk again and then start riding again.

Now, he's one of the greatest cyclists in the country, and he's telling his awe-inspiring story in his new book, "From Broken Neck to Broken Records: A Masters Cyclist's Guide to Winning."

Listen to his inspiring story and discover how it's never too late to achieve your dreams.
