Ed Whitlock is living proof of the possibilities of exceptionally successful aging.

in 2000, at the age of 69, he became the oldest person ever to break 3 hours for a marathon.

Now 81, the Canadian runner recently set not one, but two world records

First, he smashed an age group world record in the mile, and just three weeks later, he set a new record in the marathon, running it in 3 hours and 25 minutes.

Ed explains what his training regime is like and how he manages to avoid injuries.

And he says he has one secret to his success -- never giving up.

He says if you can just stay active, you can keep doing many things. You don't have to run a marathon -- or even a mile -- but you do need to keep moving.

Ed says he doesn't seem himself as a trailblazer but he hopes that example will show others that if he can do it, they can too.
